Here's highlights from the Hot Rock show I did with guests Night Ranger and The Eric Martin Band. This was shot on location backstage at the Warfield theatre in 1984. Both bands were local favorites, and favorites of mine on my radio and TV shows. As I first heard them, it hit me that these guys were going to be a hit machine for rock radio. Their music was a breakthrough for the double guitar solos, thundering sound, and glossy well written hooks and melodies.  Brad Gillis and Jeff Watson are virtuoso guitarists, who've created memorable soaring double guitar riffs and solos. Jack Blades on Bass and vocals wrote and performed all many of their hits,like "Rock in America" and "Don't tell me you love me", along with Kelly Keagy, drummer and vocalist best remembered for their monster hit, "Sister Christian".  As a thank you for playing their music and having them guest several times on the TV series, I was given the "World Premiere" of the Sister Christian Video to play on Hot Rock before MTV played it!

This backstage show, is one of these TV appearances. You can also see Night Ranger in our Bammies 1984 show, and the "Hot Rock" race at Malibu Grand Prix. among other programs. In the 90s, and the early 2000s, Night Ranger has stayed in touch and has done some cool stuff for me- including doing an acoustic set in the studio with me at 101.7 The Fox (and having me sing w them on "Don't tell me you love me"), to doing a concert for the launch of the 80s station I was running called Flash 103.9, and another one in downtown Sacramento for a special radio event summer festival.

Over the years, Night Ranger's switched out a few band members, most notably Jeff Watson who embarked on a solo career recently. But the band keeps busy, releasing a new album in 2009 "Hole in the Sun" and a world tour. Most recently, they've hooked up with Journey for a series of shows across the US.
