“Mind Share is Market Share”

In today’s world, there’s media messaging everywhere. In addition to Radio, that is still listened to by over 98% of all Americans, there’s online digital, texting, twittering and more. Newspapers are and Yellow pages are becoming increasingly irrelevant as the internet replaces them as a consumer resource. To reach your target consumer today, you must adjust your Ad placement and strategies to reach them in the media they are consuming, at the events they are attending, and with product integration inside the content they read and even the games they are playing.

One thing hasn’t changed. A memorable, relevant message that captures a consumers attention works in any medium. That’s called “Mind Share”.  And if you follow the above formula for your message, you will get MARKET SHARE.

To explain, allow me to share a brief storyline. I didn’t plan it, but when I started my career in the entertainment field as a child, I had no idea the experiences I was going to have would create this skill. I was performing onstage as a teenager with the likes of Bob Hope and Tennessee Ernie Ford. I was in a band that opened for Chuck Berry. I bought comedy records. Ate a lot of sugary foods. I listened to radio for hours on end, sleeping with that little earphone speaker that came with those little AM radios. I liked commercials for some odd reason. Hated the bad ones, memorized the good ones, especially the jingles and funny ones.  Watched far too much TV, and memorized lines of dialogue I liked. Got a degree in marketing, and studied acting at American conservatory theatre.  Who knew any of this was important to Advertising?

A lucky break landed me on the air in San Francisco. KFRC, KRQR, Hosting the Beatles hour. KSFO, KYA….. I hosted a totally 80s TV Series for ABC. I  started voicing, writing, producing, wrote jingles, opened an Ad Agency of my own. Big Clients, Small Clients. Then came creating and building radio formats- classic rock, Oldies, 80s, Country. Coaching, and learning.

Twenty five years later, I realize that all these experiences led me to where I am today.

My right brain has learned Advertising strategies, needs evaluations, marketing solutions, planning, organization, value, and the digital assets world.

My left brain can write clever. Brainstorm. Create new ideas. Turn challenges upside down and look at them differently. Think of funny, memorable lines, hear jingle melodies, and speak or entertain for thousands…or just a few people, and still find the joy in it.

I believe if you are passionate about your life, it should spread to what you do. I use my unique combination of Advertising and showbiz experience to help my clients build a memorable, relevant message, that captures the consumers attention. Delivered On Air, Online, or Onsite. I believe that’s how “Mind Share” becomes  MARKET SHARE.

One last personal thought. The success you have is totally up to you in life. You control more than you think. Sure, life throws things at you, but it’s how you react to those things that defines who you are and what your life becomes. Success is measured in my mind with a balance of personal happiness and professional success. At least once a day, step back. Breathe. Laugh more. Live wisely and passionately.
